Originally written for a man, Cyndi Lauper changed the lyrics slightly to convey female solidarity in a playful way. Dog Days Are Over by Florence + The Machine was the second single to be released from their debut album Lungs. The song is featured on NMEs 2011 Top 150 on the last 15 years, beginning with an intricate acoustic intro and building to a crescendo with the power of Florence Welsh’s voice.
